An uneducated woman is more exposed to early pregnancy, forced marriage, precarious jobs and human right violations. Women and girls’ education is therefore a logical priority for Aide et Action. We know that it helps lifting families out of poverty, malnutrition and child mortality: a child whose mother knows how to read is twice as likely to survive beyond age 5.
« Girl-friendly schools », literacy classes for women, awareness raising among communities about girls’ education… Aide et Action leads activities on those different fronts with the aim to erase gender disparities in access to primary and secondary education and achieve universal gender parity. We improve girls’ school environment and promote women’s access to economic opportunities through vocational training and entrepreneurship support.
